Student Support:

Students are encouraged to participate in academically oriented programs hosted by other colleges. Seminars/workshops/Invited Lectures are regularly conducted by the department with external experts to ensure social awareness, updating of knowledge as well as the academic development of the students. Special lectures on gender sensitization and media awareness are regularly organized by the department. Debates and interactive sessions are organized annually on Womens’s Day. In addition to this the students are encouraged to participate in Quizzes, motivational training programs and job fairs. Various extra-input programmes designed by the higher education department such as Walk with the Scholar (WWS), Scholar Support Program (SSP), Additional Skills Acquisition Program (ASAP) and Earn While You Learn (EWYL)  are administered successfully in the department.

 

Outside the classroom, the students are given opportunities to develop their academic and extra-academic proclivities to the optimum. The department organizes :

  • Study Tours
  • Field Visits
  • Seminar/Workshop/Webinars/Invited Lectures
  • Theatre activities to improve the terpsichorean skills of the students.
  • Screening of films that are adaptations of prescribed texts
  • The department also avails the local resources mainly by bringing in scholars from premier institutions to interact with the students

  1. Softskills: are blended into the teaching learning process of the department so as to ensure the enhancement of the student’s ability to function/thrive in a professional/job oriented domain. Thedept. also offers add on course on Communication and Soft Skill to the students of the college.
  2. Languageandcommunication skills: offers add on course on Communication and Soft Skill to the students of the college. Both employability and job performance are targeted through this course. The dept. also focuses on the communicative skills through the core course transaction in classes. The students are provided assignments, creative tasks, debates and paper presentations to encourage better communication and fluent use of language.
  3. Apart from emphasizing on ICT enabled teaching-learning, the dept. also takes initiatives to ensure basic computingskills in the students by encouraging them to make digital manuscripts, make ICT assisted presentations in class
