Anti Ragging Committee

Anti Ragging Committee
The Anti-Ragging Committee in the college is a crucial entity dedicated to ensuring
the safety and dignity of every student within the institution. Its existence reflects the
institution’s zero-tolerance policy towards such harmful practices and its commitment to
fostering an inclusive and respectful campus environment. The primary responsibility of the
Anti-Ragging Committee is to prevent incidents of ragging and to address them swiftly and
effectively if they occur. This involves a proactive approach to creating awareness,
monitoring student behaviour, and providing a secure channel for students to report incidents
of ragging. Preventive measures are a cornerstone of the committee’s work. At the beginning
of each academic year, the committee organizes department level orientation sessions for new
students, where they are informed about the college’s anti-ragging policy, the consequences
of engaging in ragging, and the support available to victims. The committee also conducts
regular inspections and surveillance. By maintaining a visible presence, the committee deters
potential perpetrators and reassures students that their safety is a priority. When incidents of
ragging are reported, the committee acts swiftly to investigate the matter. A confidential
process is followed to ensure that the victim feels safe and supported throughout the
investigation. The committee interviews the involved parties, gathers evidence, and ensures
that the investigation is thorough and impartial. Upon concluding the investigation, the Anti-
Ragging Committee decides on the appropriate disciplinary action which ranges from
warnings and suspension to expulsion, depending on the severity of the offense. The
committee’s decisions are guided by the principle of fairness, ensuring that the punishment is
proportional to the crime and serves as a deterrent to others.
