The Department of Hindi at government college Mokeri was established in 1981 and the salient features are :-
Hindi, one of the world’s most widely spoken languages, is a central member of the Indo-Aryan group of the Indo-European language family. As the official language of India and the lingua france of a substantial part of the Indian subcontinent, Hindi has considerable influence not only in South Asia but also among diaspora communities worldwide.from it’s ancient roots in Sanskrit to it’s modern form that bridges traditional and contemporary life, Hindi is a language of immense complexity and significance. As a subject of academic inquiry, a medium for cultural expression, and a vital tool for communication for millions of people, Hindi’s importance cannot be overstated. By teaching Hindi s a second language in Government college Mokeri we are trying to modify listening and speaking skills and also to enlighten the students about the salient features of Hindi language.

The Department places paricular emphasis on treating Orientallanguages and literatures in a broad humanistic context, taking care to examine them with reference to the cultures and cultural traditions within which they exist and have developed

The mission of the department is to reinforce listening speaking, reading and witing skils and cultivate a value- added life to face challenges and achieve excellence.
