Students of the department have won several recognitions in intercollegiate Arts Fests and Sports events:
- Sumeekha K (of BA FE) won Second place in versification and story writing in 2012 B-Zone arts festival, on 19th December 2011.
- Jimsha K (of MA 2010-12) published poetry in Sanghatitha
- Sreesha M (of BA FE 2009-12) published poetry inSanghatitha
- Sreesha M(of BA FE 2009-12) published short story in Mathrubhumi Illustrated Journal
- Sooraj K and Satheesh TMK of III BA Functional English (2009-12) participated in a workshop on Film and Media Studies at Don Bosco College of Mass Communication and Journalism at IrittyThalassery.
- RoshnaBalakrishnan (of BA 2009-12) won the First place in the intercollegiate elocution competition at MET College of Arts and Science, Kallachi on 3rd February 2010.
- Students from the department have competed in the B-zone English drama, held at Malabar Christian College in 2012.
- ShahanaSherin (of BA 2013-16) won the second place (Rs.1000/-) in the essay competition held at MES College Villiappally, as part of MES Golden Jubilee Celebrations on 30.10.2014.
- Aiswarya Arjun (of MA 2014-16) won second place in the Interzone painting competition in 2016.

- Secured second with A grade for Keralanatanam , Ottanthullal and FolkDance Male at Calicut University Interzone Youth Festival in the year 2019.
- Secured second with A grade for FolkDance Male and 3rd with A grade for Kerala Natanam at Calicut University Interzone Youth Festival in the year 2018.
SIX Seminars and ONE Webinarhave been organized by the department. Six of them were sponsored by the Directorate of Collegiate Education, Government of Kerala
- A National Seminar on New Frontiers in Theatre Studies was conducted on 6th march 2012. National Award Winner Film Director and theatre person, Suveeran inaugurated the seminar. Dr. NP Ashley from St. Stephen’s, New Delhi delivered the keynote.
- A one-day seminar was conducted as a part of the in-service Faculty Training Program sponsored by the Directorate of Collegiate Education on 17/12/2014. Kendra SahityaAkademi Award winner SubhashChandran inaugurated the seminar. Various resource persons spoke in the seminar, and faculty from various colleges participated in the same.
- A Two-day national seminar The Discourse of the Margins was conducted on 13-14 January 2016. Reputed transgender Activist and Author KalkiSubrahmanyam inaugurated the seminar and gave the keynote. Various resource persons including Dr. Meena T Pillai, Dr. AC Sreehari, and AshaMenon spoke in the seminar, and faculty from various colleges participated in the same.
- A Two-day international seminar Learning from Derrida was conducted on 1-2February 2019. Internationally acclaimed criticJonathan Culler (cornell University, New York) inaugurated the seminar and gave the keynote. Respected speakers such as Zahira Rehman and EP Rajagopalan spoke in the seminar, and faculty from various colleges participated in the same.
- A Two-day national seminar Memory, Archives and Evolving Literary Sensibility was conducted on 10-11 October 2019. Reputed scholar Dr. PK Rajasekharan inaugurated the seminar and Dr. EV Ramakrishnan (Poet, Critic and Professor Gujarat Central University) gave the keynote.
- A Two-day national seminar Mythologies of the Moving Image was conducted on 11-12 October 2018. Reputed film scholar Dr. Githesh T (University of Madurai) inaugurated the seminar and gave the keynote. Luminaries such as Dr. Jaikumar KP and Smitha Madanan spoke in the seminar, and faculty from various colleges participated in the same.
- A four-day international Webinar Cyber Media Cultures was organized on 8-11 January 2020. The seminar was inaugurated by the Honourable Director of Collegiate Education Smt. V .Vigneswari IAS, and international poets and scholars such as Dona Mayoora, Dr. Reshmi Ramachandran, Dr. Ajay Sekhar and Priya K Nair spoke in the seminar.
